When you first hear Boone’s Naked Gods, there’s a note of familiarity in the band’s indie-rock, but not one you can pin down easily. They describe themselves as ‘hapless burlypop prog-punk,’ which, frankly, seems about as close as anyone’s been able to come to nailing the exact combination of slacker-rock humor, classic-rock chops, Americana looseness and pop exuberance that spills out of every Naked Gods tune. It’s familiar and inviting, but totally singular, too. We might struggle to describe it, but it’s never been a chore to love it. Last year’s No Jams was one Shuffle‘s year-end favorites. So it’s a real treat to reveal this video, captured at the band’s AHA AVL performance in Asheville, of the No Jams standout “Shaq & Diane.”
