Braveyoung offer a cryptic glimpse of their forthcoming EP

The droning, dramatic post-rock conundrum Braveyoung gave Facebook followers a tease yesterday. The Greensboro outfit posted a video, which you can check out above, that features live excerpts from the band’s forthcoming EP, Will the Dust Praise You. For now, there is no information about when the album will be released or who might be putting it out.

The video offers what appear to be six different moments from a performance. The first, a softly smoldering drone, gives way to a more intense revision that transforms the sound into a fiery roar. The final three find the band building up tensile fuzz around an elegiac piano march. It’s hard to garner much from these snippets, but they display the kind of nuance and tonal control that are Braveyoung’s most reliable tools.

The EP would serve as a follow-up to a pair of 2011 releases — the gorgeously melodramatic We Are Lonely Animals and the haunting and hefty Nothing Passes, a collaboration with oppressive Rhode Island metal duo The Body. In the mean time, Braveyoung are keeping busy with an August tour of the West Coast alongside The Body and The Assembly of Light Choir. The collaborative trek reunites the Nothing Passes headliners with the group that gave the album its eerie vocal flourishes. —Jordan Lawrence
