Charlotte-based Arts & Science Council opens applications for artist project grants

The Charlotte-based Arts & Science Council has opened applications for its 2012 Regional Artist Project Grants. Open to individuals and unincorporated groups based in Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Rutherford, or Union County, N.C., or York County, S.C., the grants aim to provide one-time funding of up to $2,000 for specific projects, including but not limited to, equipment rental or purchase or conference attendance.
“By virtue of helping the development of 30 plus artists every year, the Regional Artist Project Grant is one of the most impactful grant programs offered through ASC,” ASC President Scott Provancher said in a press release.
The grant is available to artists in any discipline, including music, so long as the artist is 18 years or older, a permanent resident of one of the aforementioned counties, not a student in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, and not a recipient of the grant in any of the past two calendar years. Eligibility details and other information is available here. More information about ASC is available at ArtsandScience.org.
Grant applications are due by noon on Thursday, Sept. 20. —Bryan C. Reed
