The one-off show that Archers of Loaf played in January of 2011 seems to have given the band a second wind. Following a 13-year hiatus, the underground luminaries have since begun performing on a semi-regular basis, and have also launched a reissue series, putting their studio catalog back into print. Merge Records announced that it will reissue the band’s final two albums, All the Nations Airports and White Trash Heroes, on August 7. These follow the Merge reissues of Icky Mettle last year and Vee Vee in February.

Remastered by Bob Weston, both LPs are packaged with reimagined artwork, new liner notes, and loads of b-sides/rarities. They’re available for pre-order though Merge’s website, and can be purchased individually, or together in a bundle. (The first 150 buyers get an autographed band poster too, so ya better hurry.)

All the Nations Airports was the group’s first album to be distributed by a major label, and is described in Stephen Thompson’s liner notes as “music that exists because it must, with all the bile, beauty, and bluster of youth.” The Archers’ final LP, White Trash Heroes, saw the group at its creative apex, and displays its uncompromising musical integrity.

Coincidentally, the release of the albums will take place exactly a month after the group’s tour documentary What Did You Expect? premieres at Carrboro’s storied venue Cat’s Cradle on July 7.
