Nicolay & The Hot At Nights Ticket Giveaway

If “free” is good, then surely “free” plus “free” is even better. What are we on about? Well, for starters, Grammy nominated producer and Wilmington’s best-known Dutch import Nicolay — one half of NC soul-jammers The Foreign Exchange — teams up with Raleigh’s exploratory jazz trio The Hot at Nights — which features Foreign Exchange guitarist Chris Boerner — for a two-week tour of the East coast and Midwest, and you’re invited on our dime!
Well, sort of.
Shuffle is giving away a pair of tickets for each of the tour’s N.C. dates: Jan. 24 at the Soapbox in Wilmington; Jan. 25 at the Pourhouse in Raleigh; and Jan. 26 in Charlotte at the Evening Muse. Shoot us an e-mail at swag@shufflemag.com and we’ll tell the first-come-first-served winners the good news by Monday, Jan.23. (Please specify which city you want to see ‘em in; we’re not mind readers.)
There’s more: Nicolay and The Hot at Night are touring together behind 2011’s collaborative Shibuya Session EP, in which they rearranged the Dutchman’s instrumental cuts from his 2009 LP, City Lights Vol 2: Shibuya, and they’re giving that away for free, too. Visit theforeignexchangemusic.com to scoop up the download.
Seriously, what’s not to like about all this? You’re welcome. —John Schacht
