Post-Echo, Columbia’s favorite far-flung experimental music collective, has claimed a new member. Fascinating and mercurial Columbia producer Will Flourance, aka Ramphastos, has joined the organization’s growing number of intriguing acts. He’ll have no trouble fitting in. On his 2012 album Southern Gothic Flourance spans an ever-shifting array of hip-hop beats and dubstep-inspired effects, where jarring rhythms melt into entrancing soundscapes. Online Editor Bryan C. Reed even named Ramphastos to his Paste list of “12 South Carolina Bands You Should Listen To Now,” an endorsement I heartily echo.

Far from a loner, Flourance is proving he can be a team player as well. He’s collaborating with another Post-Echo outfit, the captivating and cathartic post-rock band Pan, on a remix project of their recent LP These Are the Things I Love and I Want to Share Them With You. No release date or additional details are available at this time.

For now, you can get better acquainted with Ramphastos by listening to Southern Gothic (streaming below) and reading Patrick Wall’s feature from earlier this year. —Jordan Lawrence
