Run Dan Run issue two singles; sneak peek of forthcoming Normal LP

In anticipation of their January 2012 sophomore full-length, Charleston indie rockers Run Dan Run are stoking the fires of our interest with a couple of tasty teasers from Normal.

The slinky horn fanfare of “Lovesick Animal” and the bouncing-ball rhythms of “Box-Type Love” suggest someone’s been paying close attention to their Broken Social Scene records. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that). But what we’ve heard, the rest of the record (our job rules!) also adventures into sonic territory inhabited by the likes of J Mascis, the Flaming Lips and the Album Leaf among them.

Since Dan McCurry formed a duo with Nick Jenkins in 2006 as a vehicle for his songs, Run Dan Run has expanded to a trio with the addition of Ash Hopkins and, until recording Normal in 2010, toured regularly throughout the Southeast. They released their full-length debut, Basic Mechanics, in 2007, and an acoustic EP, 27 Coming St., in 2009. But with Normal, we’re wagering Run Dan Run has a made a record that will introduce them to people all over the U.S.
