In the spirit of All Hallow’s Eve, the Columbia folk-pop ensemble Those Lavender Whales has recorded a new song celebrating the holiday’s imaginative costuming (“Be anything that you want to be,” Aaron Graves sings) and candy consumption (“Teeth are gonna rot right out of your head/ So much candy that you’ll never sleep”). It’s a quintessential TLW song, reveling in the imagery and imagination of childhood, but shaded with the concerns and anxieties of adulthood. “Happy Halloween” is the band’s first output since January’s Tomahawk of Praise LP, both of which can be streamed below. —Bryan C.
