Video: Bowerbirds’ “Overcome With Light”

Of all the songs on Bowerbirds‘ bigger and bolder third LP The Clearing, “Overcome With Light” hews closest to the duo’s sparse folk roots. The song’s recently released video follows suit.  It’s a simple and beautiful series of fleeting images that display the enchanting expanses of the American heartland. Deer flit across fields. Suns rise into clear skies. Stars spin with slow-moving grandeur. The pictures cycle quickly and purposefully, overwhelming the senses and reminding the audience of the beauty all around them. “And how I know I’m happy now,” Phil Moore sings over prickling acoustic strums, once again in awe of the natural wonders that surround him, “I jump right down the shoots of time.” This clip approximates that wonder as well as any three-minute clip could. –Jordan Lawrence
